DebugYourFinance is a privacy-first site by design. This page explains exactly what happens when you visit, in plain English. If anything changes, we update this page with a new "last updated" date.
What we don't collect
No accounts, no logins, no email or password collection.
No third-party tracking pixels (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no Hotjar).
No cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.
No personal identifiers collected by us (name, phone, PAN, Aadhaar — nothing).
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing.
What we do collect
1. Cookieless analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and understand which pages are read. This is server-side, cookieless, and does not track users across sites. Cloudflare processes only aggregated request metadata: page URL, referrer, browser type, country. No individual user is identified.
2. Local browser storage
Our calculators save your input values (e.g., SIP amount, loan principal) in your browser's sessionStorage so they survive a page refresh. This data stays entirely on your device, is never sent to our server, and is cleared when you close the tab. You can also clear it manually via your browser's site data settings.
3. Theme preference
Your light/dark mode choice is saved in localStorage. This also stays on your device only.
4. Affiliate link clicks
When you click an “Apply Now” button, we record an anonymous, cookieless event noting which card was clicked, on which page, and when. This helps us understand which recommendations are useful. It contains no cookie, no IP address, and no identifier that could link the click back to you — only the card, the page, and a timestamp. It stays on our own infrastructure and is never sold or shared.
Third-party links
Some outbound links on our site lead to bank application pages, broker platforms, or insurance aggregators. When you click these, you leave our site and enter the third party's domain, which has its own privacy policy. Some of these links are affiliate links — we may earn a commission when you apply. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
Our affiliate networks (for example, Cuelinks) may use a click-tracking cookie once you land on the partner's site. This is set by the partner's domain, not ours, and is governed by their policies.
Your rights under India's DPDP Act 2023
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:
Access any personal data we hold about you (in our case, effectively none).
Correct or erase any inaccurate personal data.
Withdraw consent for any processing you've previously allowed.
File a grievance with our grievance officer (details below) or escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf.
