About DebugYourFinance

Independent personal finance for India. No logins, no tracking, no upsells.

Why this site exists

Most personal finance sites in India optimise for one thing: pushing you toward whichever product pays them the highest commission. That's why card reviews read like sales brochures, tax guides lead with insurance upsells, and calculators lock results behind sign-ups.

DebugYourFinance is the opposite of that. Every tool runs fully in your browser. Every card review lists cons as prominently as pros. Every blog post ends where honest advice actually ends — even when that means recommending no product at all.

How we work

Verified, not copied

Every card's fee, cap, and reward rate is cross-checked against the issuer's official page. A "Last verified" date on each detail page tells you when.

Privacy by default

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless). No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no third-party tracking scripts. Your calculator inputs stay in your browser.

Numbers, not opinions

Our guides are built on the actual tax slabs, formulas, and public rules — the same ones our calculators run on. If we can't cite it, we don't publish it.

Honest monetisation

Some outbound links earn us a commission. This never shifts what we recommend — see our affiliate disclosure.

Editorial standards

We rank cards by how well they fit the category we put them in — not by commission. A card we don't monetise can still be ranked #1 if it's genuinely the best pick. Where two cards are close, we'll say so instead of forcing a false winner.

Tax and investment figures come from official government sources (CBDT, SEBI, RBI) and reputable secondary sources. Where rules change year over year, we update the year-tag in our constants file and publish change notes.

Who's behind this

I'm Sparsh Agarwal, a personal-finance enthusiast based in India. I built DebugYourFinance because I was tired of re-doing the same tax-regime math, SIP projections, and card comparisons every few months — and tired of seeing every other Indian finance site optimise those same tools for upsells instead of answers.

I use every tool on this site myself. The tax simulator runs my own ITR math each March. The SIP calculator shapes my actual monthly investing plan. The loan reducer ran the numbers before my own home-loan prepayments. If something here feels off or half-baked, it's because I haven't gotten to it yet — not because someone paid me to leave it that way.
